Narrative Writting

 Hello Bloggers,

This week we did learning about narrative writing, each day we had to read the first few slides to gather the information. The next thing we had to do was create our own morphed animal. At the start I didn't know how to start narrative writing, so I needed a bit of help. Then the next day I had to check if I had the correct spelling and punctuation. Here is a photo of the slideshow I did.

Planning a Fable

 Hello Bloggers!

Today I had to plan on writing my own fable. My moral lesson is to face your fears, don't steal and be kind to each other. The characters are a bear, a fox and a queen bee and my fable take place in the woods. Here is a photo of the slide I had to do on the fables slideshow.

Fables

Hello bloggers,

Today I had to do a blog about my understanding of fables. A fable is a short and simple story, a fable will always end with a moral ending, it can also be for entertainment, animals are usually the main characters in fables. A fable will include personification, fable stories have been passed down from generation to generation through verbal storytelling and it would take place in a familiar setting.

My Favourite Piece of Learning this week

Hello Bloggers !

My favourite piece of learning this week is my Meerkats point of view story. We had to watch a video called Catch it ( it was about meerkats). Then we had to choose what we wanted to do. We could tell the story from the meerkats point of view, create an internal monologue from the vulture or create a commentary using screencastify  of the rugby scene at the end. I did a point of view story if you would like to watch the video here is the link and if you want to read my point of view story it is on the link.

My favourite piece of learning this week.

Hello bloggers!

My favourite piece of learning this week is Maths because in my Maths class I created a digital Tapa Cloth. We had to create our own pattern using some shapes and then we had to calculate how many sides and vertices we had for each shape we used for the digital Tapa Cloth.

If you would like to see my digital Tapa Cloth click on the link

Muffin bake off!

Hello bloggers!

On the 22nd of August me and my mum baked for the muffin bake off.

We found a recipe online and made soft sponge cupcakes. My Mum separated the egg yolk and egg white. We whisked the egg white with sugar using the electric mixer until its stiff and pale. I mixed the egg yolk, flour, butter and milk in a separate bowl until it is smooth.

The next part was quite tricky because we had to mix both batter together carefully and gently in one direction until was fluffy and smooth. After we put the batter into the baking cups in the tray and then put them into the oven to bake for 15 mins.

While the sponge cupcakes were baking we started making the cupcake decorations. We had ran out of icing sugar so with a marshmallow flower that we made for the decoration. First we cut 4 slits and spread the marshmallow to their sides and then when the cupcakes came out we put the cupcake topper  on the cupcakes .

I really enjoyed making theses cupcakes,

For my reading in lockdown I did a DLO about a Amanda Cameron ( a paralympian ).

I learnt that she does Para cycling, she is in the New Zealand Paralympic Team and they won 21 medals, nine gold, five silver and seven bronze and Amanda Cameron can't see or hear. I also learnt that the gold medal is mostly made of silver, Gymnastics is the most watched sport in the Olympics and the three Olympic values are excellence, friendship and respect.

STEM Week Waikowhai Student led toolkits

Hello bloggers,

On 11th of June it was STEM week and we did student led toolkits. STEM means science, technology, engineering and mathematics . There where twenty four presenters for our toolkits and twelve toolkits to go to. We where able to attend three toolkits by choosing which one we did a google form and chose which one we where going to and after once we found out which one we where going to we wrote it down and we also wrote where it was so we would remember.

The first toolkit I went to was Word Art and it was in my class Waitemata  you can add in words as many as you like. The presenters where Vivian and Hazel then add a font. you can choose what colour the words are which way they are what shape it is. You can also pick how much transparency you want for the picture the word are in. It is like making a card online.

The next toolkit that I went to was Music Lab. Music Lab was in Mokoroa. I enjoyed doing Music Lab because there where so many different activities that you could do in Music Lab. My favourite activity on Music Lab is Shared Piano because you can let other people join you in Shared Piano and make music together you can also use your typing keys to make the music. There are also other activities in Music Lab like, Kandinsky, Oscillators and Song maker.

The last toolkit I went to was Spheros, Spheros where in the hall. You can use your chromebook to control the Spheros. You can also change the colour of the light on top of the Sphero. There where also mazes that you could get the Spheros to go through. We could also make them go outside and go on the ramps. I also enjoyed using the joystick to move the Sphero.

My favourite toolkit was Music Lab because there are so many activities that you can do on it.  I think that we should do toolkits every term and next time we do toolkits I think that I would like to be a presenter.

Maths Measurement

 Hi bloggers,

Last week on Thursday my maths class started on working on measurement. Firstly we had to write in our maths books the playground length, playground width, greenhouse length, Te Ana Ako length and Te Waka Ako deck length.

Once we had wrote that we would get into buddies. Once me and my buddy got outside first we used our body parts to help us estimate how long we thought it was. Then we needed to get a ruler and see how close we where. Me and my buddy weren't close to most of them I think it is not right because when we estimated it it might have not been even.

Training Diary

 Hello bloggers,

On March we got some training diaries. Once we got our training diaries we wrote our name, team the school address, our schools phone number and our email. At our fruit break we had some fitness activities to do like how long you could hold a plank for or how many burpees you could do we also did a ten metre shuttle and a endurance run.

When we were doing fitness activities we needed someone to record how long you did something for or how much of something you did in the fitness time we also needed a stopwatch a pencil or a pen and our training diary. There is also a part in our diary that we can write compliments to different people in our syndicate we also have a part in our dairy that we write how many hours of sleep we got.

The training diaries are to improve our fitness. Our inquiry this term is Taha Tinana which means Physical Well Being.

Here is a photo of my training dairy

Swimming at Cameron Pools

Hello bloggers,

On term 1 week 2 my class went to Cameron Pools. We got there by going on the school bus.

Once we got there I was quite scared since my class was going into a bigger pool. When we got into the pool our swimming teachers introduced themselves. My swimming teachers name is Alisha but when I first started to go in to the bigger pool I needed some support and soon I got better and more confident. But this Thursday Alisha was away so I had Tracy. We practised bouncing up and down going under the water in the pool and we also practised swimming with the board and swimming on our backs. I am really enjoying swimming at Cameron Pools. I am really proud of myself for not giving up. My teacher is really proud of me too.

Here are some photos if you would like to take a look.

ANZAC in the trenches

 Hello bloggers,

In the morning I thought that it would be very boring but no it wasn't. In Waitemata and Hauraki it was full of strings and all of the teachers where dressed in black. First we where all in Manukau and we had to enter no mans land and crawl under the strings. We all had ten lives if we put our head up we would loose a life and if we lost all of them we would have to work in the orange space. But the first we got our art book a pen, pencil and ruler and we had to crawl under the trenches then we got a basic facts test and had to do in in the trenches and there was loud noises like gunfire and bombs. Then we had to give it to our teacher.

After we did ANZAC maths where we had to get into groups of three and we had an answer sheet about things like how many soldiers where sent to war and how many were killed and we had another sheet where we had to answer some questions. Then we had fruit break and had some pears in the trenches we also did some exercise. Later we did a letter from the trenches that we had to write like we are actually in the trenches and were writing to our family and then we could do some poems here is my letter:

Dear Family, I’m at war and it is very noisy here from all of the fighting and gunfire. We are all very hungry, we have to eat corned beef and dried biscuts and in the trenches there are rats almost the size of cats in the trenches. Many people are wounded and some of the soldiers have died.I hope that I survive and that I will see you all soon.

Sincerely Yours Jaycee

After that we did a picto draw where the teacher read something about ANZAC day and we had to draw it and lastly we could stand up then get into buddies and unwind the strings but when we where doing this one of us had to have a blindfold and the other person had to give instructions and after we had to swap and put the string in a pile.

I thought it was a very fun day here are some photos if you want to take a look.

Safety in the pool

 Hello bloggers!

On the 26th of February my class Waitemata went swimming in the school pool. First to get into the pool we had to fall in. Then we did an activity called whirl-pool it is an activity where you need and group of people and the need to run around in the pool. After we had to float on our back for three minutes but Miss Daly said to move our arms and legs around in circles while we were floating so we could float longer.

Next Miss Daly made us into groups by giving us numbers which where one, two, three and four and I was number two, then she called out the numbers and we had to do some tricks the first trick was where we had to go underwater and push to get to the other side and move our arms and legs around in circles while we were floating so we could float and move back .

My Picasso Self Portrait

 Hi bloggers,

Last week we made a Picasso self portrait of our self. We learnt how to do it by watching a video.

First you need some paper, colouring pencils and a pencil. First you need to draw the eyes and make it like a rugby ball then put an oval in it and a star by drawing some diagonal and straight lines. Next you need to draw the other eye like a sideways v and draw a curvy shape inside and the a oval and a tiny coloured in it. Then we drew the nose you need to draw how to draw a line on down then and on down then and Infinity loop next to it. Then draw the lips and the face shape which is like a long curvy shape around the face features. Later you can  the ear connected the face which is like a sideways m and then you could do a little sideways m too. After  you can draw a stylish hat and add some flowers or a feather and there too.You can also add some hair if you want. Then draw the neck connected to the face and then draw the body. Now you're Picasso portrait is finished. Here is the link if you would like to have a look at the video if you would like to have a look or didn't understand how I explained it.

Here is my Picasso self portrait if you would like to have a look.

Lockdown 4

 Hello bloggers,

In lockdown number four my class had to work from home. We did two slideshows they were called my  2021 lockdown diary and my lockdown creations. My favourite activity in writing was my bio poem, because you get to write about yourself.

First we had to make a new google drawing and write then once we finished we got to change the font and background colour. I felt happy while I was doing that activity. When we were doing our lockdown creations each day we were given something to do for writing and we could chose for maths and reading. We could also chose another activity to do on the syndicate site and put it on our slide show. Here is my slideshow
